Trends

Trends this year are a blend of soft blonds to rich dramatic brunettes. Looking at what is coming out of Europe, I’m seeing the Ombre technique transforming into rich colors with subtle variations in tone. Blondes are looking more natural, less streaky with shadowing at the root area and subtle dimensional “slices” of color vs. heavily defined highlights creating an overall soft romantic more natural look.

With short hair coming back with a vengeance, blondes are popular but if you are not into being blonde, I love to see vibrant auburn or rich brunette on a short haircut. I might recommend subtle tone on tone highlights to accentuate short haircuts to bring out the layers and soften the lines of the cut.

Blondes and brunets also have a new choice: the “Herringbone” technique placing two similar levels of color directly next to each other in alternating partings blending together to create an extremely natural effect with subtle variance in tone. Herringbone eliminates that solid one color effect that often is seen in a single process color.

Red heads are always show stoppers and this year is no exception, reds are softer and have gentle blending of lighter and deeper strands to make the color look amazing.

Blondes vary depending on skin tones especially in the summer months. Of course hi lights will always be an option, but this year you will see less highlights giving way to single level rich beautiful blondes.

Keeping up with the trends at any age can keep you current and on the edge of fashion. Those who want to look younger will achieve it and those who just want an up date will keep fresh for each season. Paying attention to skin tone and eye color is essential. Trying something as easy as changing the tone of your existing color or re arranging the way the hair is highlighted will make a difference in the way you look and feel about your hair

A professional should re evaluate hair color, cut and makeup periodically as the seasons change. As we age our skin tone changes it is important to maintain a look that is right for you no matter what stage of life you are in. Remember, the key to feeling great knows you look your best.

Condition and maintenance
Even the best color will look dull if the hair is not in good condition. It is important to maintain your condition both in the salon and at home. As a part of your consultation I will evaluate the condition of your hair, often recommending special treatments or glazing. A custom regime will make a world of difference in the way your color looks, feels and lasts.

I look forward to meeting you.
